Ways to Apply Eye Makeup in 8 Steps

Ways to Apply Eye Makeup in 8 StepsWhen evening calls for a glamorous look, you want to focus on making your eyes amazing. Here’s how to apply eye makeup in only 8 steps.

Here’s How:

1. Prep your eyes with concealer Concealer can be used to cover up under-eye circles or just the bluish discoloration just under your inner eye. To cover dark undereye circles, apply three dots of concealer under each eye. Start at the inner corner where skin tends to be darkest, then under the pupil and the third on the outer edge. Pat, never rub with your ring finger (this finger tends to have the softest pad) until it disappears.

2. Apply eye base to your lid Eye base is the secret to keeping your shadow in place for hours. Without properly priming your lid first, your eye shadow will likely end up a greasy line in your crease.

3. Follow with eyeliner Dark eye shadows work great as eyeliners. Wet a slanted brush, and then dip in a dark eye shadow. Line eyes as close to the upper lashes as possible from the inner corner to the outer corner. Follow with liner on bottom eyes, but only line from the middle of the eye out. Smudge the bottom line with a Q-tip or your finger. You don’t want a prominent line. For a smokey eye, use a brush to pat in a dark eye shadow along the upper lid and below the lid. You don’t want a stark line, instead you want to blend it so it’s "smudge-y."

4. Apply eye shadow. It’s great to use a three-toned shadow and build from lids to brow (see How to apply eye shadow). Allowing them to blend into each other like a rainbow is gorgeous, according to celebrity makeup artist Mally Roncal. Start with a light color that almost matches your lid. Sweep the color across the lid and up to your browbone. Follow with a medium color across your lid only. Build on this with a darker color in the crease. Blend the colors well.

5. Brighten your eyes with a highlighter this step involves only the inside part of the eye. Putting a bit of your lightest eye shadow in the inner corner of your eye will brighten it significantly (this is the makeup artist’s secret and I use this trick all the time). I usually dab a finger into my lightest eye shadow and then I press it into the inner corner of my eye where the upper lid meets the bottom lid. This totally makes eyes "pop."

6. Highlight your brow Take the same light eye shadow and dab it on your brow bone, concentrating on your mid-brow outward. Blend with your finger. I like to use Yves Saint Laurent’s Touche Eclat just below my brow and just above it, but a super light shadow will do you.

7. Curl lashes an eyelash curler will make even long lashes look more gorgeous. For added effect, you can heat the curler under a blow-dryer for a couple seconds. Test curler before applying to lashes because you could burn yourself.

8. Apply mascara Place the wand of your mascara brush at the bottom of lashes and wiggle back and forth. Follow with another few sweeps of the wand. Apply to bottom lashes as well. See How to apply mascara for step-by-step instruction and extra tips.

Space X unveils high-powered rocket

Space X unveils high-powered rocket The U.S. Company Space X Falcon Heavy presented the most powerful rocket in the world since the Apollo era and whose launch is expected by 2013.

Dubbed "Falcon 9-Heavy", the machine is so heavy version of the previous launcher Falcon 9. This was explained by Elon Musk, CEO of U.S. Company Space X, Which unveiled yesterday its new launcher. Measuring nearly 70 meters high, the Falcon 9 Heavy will be under-Space X, the most powerful rocket ever created since the craft Saturn V Apollo program. Indeed, it would be capable of putting into orbit a few kilometers from the Earth up to 53 tons of payload, or "more than Boeing 737 charged with 136 passengers, baggage and fuel, "Said Elon Musk. Ability that “opens a horizon of possibilities for government and commercial customers" Said the CEO at a conference at the National Press Club in Washington.

Last year, Space X has become the first company to a capsule orbited Living and able to return. This flight was part of a series of demonstrations to prove the reliability and security of its technology. For now, the Falcon Heavy has not flown. But it will be shipped in late 2012 at the Space Launch Complex X based at Vandenberg in California, before making a first demonstration launch. Another flight is planned for late 2013 or 2014 of the base of Cape Canaveral in Florida.

In addition to its large capacity, the rocket would be significantly lower launch costs. At least that’s said Elon Musk indicating they had priced at 1,400 euros per kilo. Thus, the tasks of Falcon Heavy cost between 50 and 90 million euros, a world record, according to AFP. Funded in part by the Nasa, Space X has already more than 1.7 billion euros in launch orders for the coming years on his latest missile.

India has about 1.21 billion people in 2011

India has about 1.21 billion people in 2011On 31 March, India had about 1.21 billion people. In ten years, the Indian population has increased by 181 million people. However, for the first time since Indian independence in 1947, growth is in sharp decline with an increase of 17.6% against 21.5% in 2001.

With 1.21 billion people, India now accounts for 17.5% of the population World. It is the second country in the ranking of most populous nations in the world, just after China with 19.4% of world population, reports the site Good Planet.

While population growth has dropped significantly from 21.15% in 2001 to 17.64% in 2011, this decrease in the rate of population growth "is a direct result of the rising number of literate women "Said Professor K. Nagaraj, professor at the Institute of Development Studies at Madras cited by Figaro. However, if India seems to be in demographic transition, the census shows a gender imbalance that has worsened over the past ten years. The country has indeed so far 914 girls per 1,000 boys. In 2001 it was 927 for 1000. An increase in the gender gap appears to be the sign of the failure of the fight against sex-selective abortion in India.

To achieve this census, launched a year ago, the country has mobilized some 2.5 million civil servants who have traveled 600,000 villages and 7,000 cities. The survey results are not yet finalized and should be in the coming months.

12 Reasons You Missed Your Period While Aren't PregnantFor all our chronic gripes about our monthly flow—pain, mood swings, eexcessive bloating, pimples—a period missed often signals a serious change in the body. Pregnancy is, of course, the most common cause for a cycle change, but there’s a bevy of reasons why your monthly bill may be a no-show. As you review our list of 12, it’s worth noting that they’re interconnected. In Western medicine, we often forget that the body is one constantly moving machine and that one malfunction can throw the whole thing off. When seeking diagnosis and treatment for irregular menses, it’s best to start with your PCP or gynecologist. After that, he or she may recommend that you visit a specialist such as a reproductive endocrinologist, a neurologist, a nutritionist, or even a psychiatrist or psychologist. You may not be preggers, but here are 12 reasons why you may save on tampons this month:

1. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)

PCOS is a common condition that affects 5 to 10% of women in the U.S., according to the NIH. The condition—marked by irregular menses, infertility, hirsutism, acne, and weight gain—is caused by excessive testosterone in a woman’s endocrine system. There may or may not be a presence of actual cysts on the ovaries, detected by an ultrasound. “This is an important condition that should not be missed because of its association with reproductive consequences, increased risk of diabetes, and cardiovascular disease,” says Dr. Sharon Lahiri, an endocrinologist at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.

2. Eating Disorders or Lousy Diet

Eating disorders including anorexia and bulimia wreak havoc on one’s body in general, but particularly take their toll on a woman’s reproductive system. Even still, a plain old lousy diet devoid of nutrition can also throw things off — especially a diet high in carbs.

3. Excessive Exercise

Many competitive athletes experience amenorrhea, though there are mixed views as to why this clinically happens. The most general consensus is that an extreme exercise regimen combined with an often-limited intake of calories halts the reproductive system. “Some research shows that you need to be within 5% of your ideal body weight to have regular menses,” notes Dr. Marcelle Pick, ob/gyn and author of Are You Tired and Wired?: Your Proven 30-Day Program for Overcoming Adrenal Fatigue and Feeling Fantastic Again. So if you’re training for a triathlon, make sure you eat a sufficient amount to keep your body running properly.

4. Stress

As I discussed in a Blisstree post a few weeks ago, stress messes up one’s cycle in myriad ways, including a condition known as hypothalamic amenorrhea. If there’s an imbalance of female sex hormones, estrogen, or progestin, this will disrupt the pituitary gland’s production of Follicle Stimulating Hormone and Luteinising Hormone, and will throw off the fine-tuned cycle.

5. Lack of Sleep

Sure, we blame lousy sleep habits for just about everything, but they can be the culprit when it comes to an erratic menstrual cycle. Though there’s no direct correlation between sleep and your cycle, studies have shown that women with more erratic sleep patterns are more likely to experience amenorrhea. Shift workers and incarcerated women, says Dr. Kenneth Ginsburg, Director of the Henry Ford Center for Reproductive Medicine, should consider the consequences of lack of shut-eye.

6. Other Women

Remember in college when you suddenly needed a tampon around the same time as your roommate? “Pheromones are produced by all individuals and those cause a type of synchronicity with women who are together for any length of time,” says Dr. Pick. So essentially, you could blame your best friend when your period is late.

7. Booze and Drugs

I’ll refrain from making jokes about how hard living leads to a certain activity that may halt your period. “The extreme result of this exposure would be loss of the ability of the ovary to respond to hormonal control, in which case premature menopause occurs,” says Dr. Ginsburg. “Of course, this would not happen with modest use, but would be expected to be seen only with sustained, significant intake.”

8. Smoking

Under no circumstances is smoking good for your health, but clinical studies have also shown that cigarettes can actually kill your eggs and cause early menopause. Pardon my scare tactics: Want to be alone with hot flashes while you smell like an ashtray?

9. Hypothyroidism

Irregular and painful periods are associated with hypothyroidism, a condition in which your thyroid is not producing enough of the thyroid hormone. This slows down metabolism and causes your entire endocrine system to lose its rhythm. Check out our recent Blisstree post on hypothyroidism to learn more about the symptoms and consequences of this frustrating and under-diagnosed condition.

10. Diabetes

Diabetes and PCOS go hand-in-hand. “Hormonal abnormalities, such as diabetes, thyroid disease, insulin resistance, or polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), which may encompass features of diabetes and insulin resistance, are common medical causes of menstrual abnormalities. Many times, these problems are best managed primarily, or with the assistance of endocrinologists, who are much more familiar and comfortable with managing these problems,” says Dr. Steve Goldfarb, a gynecologist at the Henry Ford Center.

11. Prolactinoma

A non-cancerous tumor of the pituitary gland often causes menstrual irregularity, says Dr. Lahiri. The tumor secretes prolactin, the hormone involved in lactation. Too much of this hormone also causes lactation in a woman who is not pregnant or has not had children; and it can lessen sex drive. Double bummer.

12. Early Menopause

Premature ovarian failure (POF) or menopause before age 40 is caused by a number of conditions, including autoimmune disease, chromosomal disorders, chemotherapy, and the removal of ovaries. “The most common cause probably is related to a woman’s inherited genetic program,” says Dr. Ginsburg. “Although this is a diagnosis reached by excluding other causes, when the cause of POF cannot be determined by current testing, the POF is termed idiopathic.”

Meltino Bar – Workshop LOFF

Meltino Bar - Workshop LOFFIf you go to Portugal, specifically in Braga, north of Porto you can enjoy a coffee Meltino Bar & Lounge, which is strictly a coffee house. Designed by Atelier LOFF, the bar does not go unnoticed. It is organized according to a principle of partitioning on two floors, which intelligently distributes space while planning a certain intimacy to each space partitioned. The overall impression is very geometric shape of both the space by cutting the panels forming the walls, which assumes a pattern of hexagonal shape polyhedral everywhere. It notes that the walls are double, which gives an impression of depth and enhances the intimacy of the spaces. The architects were also able to seamlessly distribute the light playing on the contrasts of very dark areas in the corridors, on ceilings against the light areas of the openings.

The project comprises a total of three spaces, one is a lounge that includes a relaxation area where gourmet coffee is served, the second is a more conventional space or express where guests can enjoy an espresso, and the third is an interior plaza.

Smartphones and social networks: the next targets of cyber attacksSocial networks and mobile phones will be the next target for cybercriminals according to the annual analysis prepared by the company Symantec.

Users of social networks and smartphones owners are cautioned. They will be the next target for cybercriminals. The software company antivirus and data protection in Symantec’s new report reveals that Facebook, Twitter and Google Operating System Android is under threat from hackers. Indeed, increased vulnerabilities of these programs are 163% in 2010. However, the spread of viruses through these channels is reduced compared to those that circulate by e-mail.

Symantec is including in its report several Android flaws that could allow the intrusion of malware. For now, six programs of this type have been discovered in distributed applications through a download service in China. Orla Cox, director of security operations at Symantec told CNN : "This software shows that we see recently on a small scale allow cybercriminals to perform a series of operations ranging from intercepting messages to the call number".

On Facebook and Twitter, threats relate primarily to the links sent by known shippers. Although difficult to implement, these traps are more effective for hackers. Indeed, users of social networks are more likely to click on links sent easily through their contacts and then promote the intrusion of malicious programs that can steal personal data.

Currently, cyber attacks are increasing alarmingly. Their rate increased by 93% between 2009 and 2010 through the use of URL shortcuts. These addresses do very little evidence to enable us to identify the source, and are therefore easily distinguishable from viable links.

African Elephants: the older and experienced leaders better manage threats Published in Proceedings of the Royal Society BA British study shows that, in herds of wild elephants in Africa, older matriarchs respond more effectively than young females to the threat posed by predators for the young group they manage.

Zoologists, led by Dr Karen McComb, a psychologist at the University of Sussex, broadcast over loudspeakers recordings of male lion roars to 39 family groups of elephants in Amboseli National Park (south of Kenya) With an average of 5 adult, student and filming their reactions.

They found that among the leaders of each group – females – aged individuals were more often able than younger people to take appropriate defensive measures – listening and after prolonged roar, turning toward the source of noise, and clustering around young adults to protect them.

"Sensitivity to this threat well known to increase with age and is higher among the oldest matriarchs, which have probably accumulated more experience. Our study provides the first empirical evidence that individuals within a social group, can benefit directly from the influence of a former, because of its increased capacity to make critical decisions (….). Capacity likely to be very relevant in other social species with large brains and long life, where older individuals play a key role in coordinating the activities of the group ", Say the researchers.

H1N1 vaccine: linked to an increase of narcolepsy in France?Afssaps found a slight excess of cases of narcolepsy in teens vaccinated against influenza H1N1 in France last year.

After Finland and Sweden, it was the turn of the France to examine the association between vaccine anti-H1N1 cases narcolepsy, a sleep disorder characterized by excessive sleepiness. Yesterday, the French Agency for Safety of Health Products (Afssaps) stated that "25 cases of narcolepsy have been reported among the 5.7 million people vaccinated with Pandemrix and Panenza, including 11 children aged less than 16 years. While the overall number of cases is not alarming, especially the figures are for adolescents who have attracted the attention of scientists.

"On the specific age group 10 to 15 years, the number of cases observed among vaccinated adolescents is higher than expected number of cases annually: 9 cases of narcolepsy reported in a population of 670,000 adolescents vaccinated with Pandemrix expected for 2.1", Thus underlining Afssaps. In August 2010, the Finnish and Swedish authorities had already expressed concern about the phenomenon after seeing several cases of narcolepsy in persons vaccinated against influenza pandemic during the campaign. In a period of 1 to 6 months after vaccination, Europe would have found nearly 200 cases occurred mainly in the two Nordic countries.

However, there would be no cause for concern according Afssaps who speculated that "area may see the development of narcolepsy post vaccination has now passed. Nevertheless, a reappraisal of the benefit / risk Pandemrix main vaccine associated cases reported is currently led by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and should be finalized in July.

More than half of French uses homeopathy

French uses homeopathyA recent study conducted by Ipsos for Boiron Laboratories indicates that the French would use 53% of homeopathic medicines. This result indicates an increase in consumption in recent years, these products of alternative medicine.

A few years ago, in 2004, only 39% of the French drank homeopathy. Today in 2011, they would be 53% to opt for the alternative medicine that remains yet unclear. Homeopathic medicines have thus found their place in 80% of French households and that, although 20% of them use these drugs while ignoring the nature of the products they own.

Homeopathy is essentially used as part of "acute and chronic diseases", especially to counter the winter diseases for 56% of cases, small bumps and bruises for 52% of cases, stress, teething, and allergies conducted by Ipsos, the survey also shows that homeopathy is used by adults to 53%, against 45% by children.

"People are turning increasingly to alternative methods of care. However, homeopathy is one of the few alternative medicines reimbursed almost in its entirety, unlike herbal medicine for example. And it is a medicine that makes it very easy to self-medicate.” It is told by Dr. Christine Coquart, homeopath in Paris. Thus, 65% of users say they use homeopathy for his side "natural” and 49% for avoid drugs "chemical". However, respondents on the subject of finger pointing lack of information circulating around this medicine while 69% say it is the doctor who may be best able to answer their questions about the subject.
