MCS conference Two weeks ago I asked you the first trailer los pajaros de la Mina "for short film ("The birds from the coal mine") before. It is the first film, shot in Spain on Multiple Chemical Sensitivity. MCS sufferers around the world, the film were very well received.

Today I want to introduce the new, expressive trailer for the upcoming movie. This new trailer debuted last week at the MCS Conference That of ASQUIFYDE was organized and held at the University of Alicante in Spain. During the three-day conference were many doctors, lawyers and other experts present and spoke about MCS, poisons, the situation in Spain, etc. It was really great and we could follow the lectures and discussions via the Internet.

The meeting produced a "Guide to Environmental Control" has been (No Fun Blog is a part of it) with my video "MCS: The importance of reducing toxic pollution "Presents. According to Francisca Gutierrez, president of ASQUIFYDE made the video great impression on the participants (medical students, press and other people from the environmental and health).

As a conclusion of the conference, the new trailer was shown. The writer and the lead actress of the film, Mariam Felipe, were present to explain the project and report on how the idea for the movie by my interview on Carne Cruda (raw meat) came about a year ago. And then they showed this amazing new trailer.

Trailer II – film The Birds from the coal mine”

The premiere of the film is on 10 December at the Theatre "Teatro Principal de Pontevedra" take place.

The film producer, Victor Moreno, can you know that they will manufacture a version with English subtitles, and thanks to Silvia K. Mueller, president of the CSN, another version with German subtitles.

I’m sure this film will win a lot of prices!

Carbon Offset You don’t hear much about carbon offset programs anymore. There are a lot of reasons that they dropped below radar, (the last reference in TreeHugger appears to be 14 months ago and even then Mat started with an apology) but perhaps one reason is that they were intangible. The Belgrave Trust, an offsetter for the rich and famous, is taking a new approach. You can offset carbon and get something to show for it: "Limited edition products designed and built by New York area artisans, often from repurposed materials and locally sourced."

The objects range from a $10 sticker for your mac, where they purchase offsets calculated to account for your computer’s entire lifecycle, to a $160 LED lamp designed by artist Jason Griffin, that comes complete with offsets for lighting and office equipment for a year.

The objects are made from recycled and repurposed materials; the dry-erase board is made from scrap polycarbonate found in an architectural salvage yard.

Dominican Republic As I intend to over-research like a mad man, I haven’t got many surprises though many destination experiences. The only spot that has tried to catch me off guard was the Dominican Republic. I had deliberately avoided the island since the country has been managed with many human rights offend, not to say the forced slavery of Haitians working on plantations. That just doesn’t stir many high expectations. I had been looking for an economical spot for a short family Spring break vacation last April and the Dominican Republic kept coming up. I browse the latest Amnesty International reports and think it looks to be a little better, if only as the huge push to construct resorts and a subway system to raise up tourism and enhance living standards. But I was still doubt. We traveled to La Romana, which is a village at the southern angle of the island, several hours away from the capitol of Santiago. I am interested about the buzy communities whizzing by on motor bikes. Mango trees looks to dot every street and kids playing ball were everywhere. We stayed in a hotel with mostly German and French tourists so I was happy that we need not rely on our Spanish to communicate with others. From that point, we were embraced like long lost friends everywhere we went. The warmth of the people was true and unexpected. The unconstrained beauty, from caves we found horsback-riding, to the nature preserve on Sanoa Island, was unforgettable. Devouring the spicy local cusine of boca chica fish and mangu plantain stew, I got to talk to Haitians who told me about the political situation. It’s not good, the Haitian border is patrolled and many Haitian workers are worried to go home as they won’t be allowed back. But they know that there were more jobs for them and they could send money home. I learned a lot from my Dominican excursion, mainly that you can’t truly decide a place until you’ve experienced it.

risks for environment and health The use of minute particles of silver in more and more everyday products, jeopardize the effect of the medicine as important antibiotic used silver. The growing entry of this so-called "silver nano" in the environment also results in humans and animals previously unknown health risks. Nanoparticles, a thousand times smaller than the diameter of a human hair, can cross the blood-brain or the placental barrier and is suspected of damaging the genetic material of living organisms. In animal experiments were damage to the liver and nerve cells, and lung damage. Nano Silver Nano is the most common material in everyday products. Consumers hardly know where it is used everywhere. The results are published today in Berlin a new study by the Association for the Environment and Nature Conservation Germany (BUND), entitled "Nano-silver gloss deceptive.

Heribert Wefers, Bund expert in chemistry and nanotechnology, "The high biological mobility of nanoparticles and the associated risks to human health and the environment are not sufficiently explored. The federal government must act so. It has to stop that producers bring unsustainable promises about the supposedly amazing properties of nanomaterials are more risky products on the market. "

Nano silver is added as an additive, for example, paints and cosmetics and is used to coat surfaces. It is to change the product features and make household utensils clean. Packaging designed to ensure that fruit and vegetables, even after long storage looks fresh, supposedly germ-killing computer keyboards or odor-resistant socks and underwear, cosmetics, tooth brushes, wipes, paint and washing machines – this is just a selection of products, nano silver. More than 300 such products are already on the market, many of which can be ordered over the Internet. The Bund in Germany estimated the amount of the nano silver per year to about a ton. In a few years there could be ten times as much.

Wilfried Kuhling, Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Federation: "As long as the risks to environment and health are not clear, the federal government must impose a marketing ban on everyday products with nano silver. In addition, all products containing nanomaterials are clearly marked. Let the buyer of nano-products in the dark violates basic rules of consumer protection and risk to the environment. "Kuhling called on federal Environment Minister Norbert Roettgen to subject the currently ongoing revision of the EU Biocides Regulation, all nano-materials in a separate review.

2 Start of the first independent student desire for BIO – Minister needs to be environmentally friendly and healthy food prevails!

Vienna – The GLOBAL 2000Youth organization has tested random Austrian school cafeteria. The result: environmentally friendly produced organic products are in short supply! Organic food is guaranteed free of synthetic chemical pesticides. "We have to conventionally produced snack apple cocktail with a pesticide found up to eight different pesticides. It is a scandal that is not for children and young people offered the best and healthiest. We want to change, "said Sven Hergovich, coordinator of the GLOBAL 2000 youth group. GLOBAL 2000 Youth therefore organized the first Austrian-school students desire for organic and environmental protection. "It is the responsibility of the Minister of Education Claudia Schmied, what is sold to school cafeteria in Austria, which they can settle in the so-called muesli adoption. We demand that organic food for school cafeteria will become a standard, "said Hergovich further.

GLOBAL 2000 youth group has inspected numerous school cafeteria in Austria and bought three apples buffets. These were analyzed in an accredited laboratory for pesticide residues. In the school apples up to eight different pesticides per apple were found. One of the agents is not approved for apples. Protecting the environment inside of the Agency for Food Safety (AGES), therefore, sent the results and asked to act.

"The cocktail of chemicals which affect young people is alarming. Not enough that some of the proven active ingredients with developmental disabilities and Behavioral problems in children and adolescents be linked – it is still not sufficiently explored how these chemicals in combination especially on the young, have an impact in development body. A significant threat to health cannot be excluded, "said Daniel Hoffman, pesticide expert at the environmental group Global 2000.

Students can – in addition to the new electoral law 16 years ago – to participate actively in politics and bring the politicians to trading. GLOBAL 2000 youth is therefore the signatures of the students pass to the Petitions Committee. "Our petition for organic buffets in schools must be treated from 500 signatures to the National Council. I expect that our National Council members want the best for our environment and for the students and to support our demand, "said Hergovich.

Cell-Phone Towers can been used to Forecast Wind Power Goal: Accurate Wind Forecasts

The more wind farms we build, the more our power grid will have to incorporate mechanisms to deal with the inherent variability of a wind farm’s output. Part of that will probably be accomplished by having more long-distance transmission capacity and interconnecting regional grids, another part might come from demand response and real-time pricing, and being able to accurately forecast how much wind there will be hour by hour will also help to optimally use wind resources. This is the problem that wind data provider Onsemble is working on.

The company says that it now has sensors capable of tracking the wind data near 95 percent of the wind farms in Texas, and that its data is very accurate because it has put its sensors on cell phone towers (80-120 meters above the ground, unlike the ground-level stations used in most cases).

Using the real-time data from the sensors fed into its algorithm, forecasting predictions can be generated every 10 minutes. The determined behavior patterns and predictions for a given area can then be used by wind farm and grid operators to determine fluxes in available electricity.

The network includes 100 sensor hubs, placed strategically near wind farms throughout Texas, and will supply data to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), which manages the electric grid for about 75 percent of Texas.

This is a great way to use something that was already there (the cell towers), and if the wind forecasts can help wind farms being more productive and other power plants to be used more efficiently (if your forecasts are very accurate, you probably need to keep less backup power spinning), this should be done everywhere where there are wind farms and cell towers.

Cochamo, ChileCochamo guaranteed to be just another area standing in the way of home, and I was convinced to go there by a man who was retracing his own history, having been a Peace Corps volunteer in early years in the skinny republic of Chile. I was not confident but willing to give this southern town on the Reloncavi estuary a try. The water rises and falls with the tides, surging the front yards of the hastily-built stilted homes built at its edge. I ate a slowfood lunch of fish and salad and the sun hung steady in the sky for hours after it seemed it should have set. I was provided and took five-hour horseback ride, ducking among the trees, enjoying astringent caqui fruits and listening to the white blossomed ulmos (trees) buzzing with nectar-collecting bees before I even noticed them. Giant, climbable granite boulders and cliffsides dwarfed me, my horse and my ever-slipping saddle. Sunset over the estuary was stripey, excellent, and I had aromatic leaves in my pocket given to me by my manual, which I found when I showed up back to the urban sprawl of Santiago.

Christmas purchase with hurdles

Christmas purchase with hurdles For this Christmas I cherished a special request for me. And although I wanted to venture this year for a long time finally had to decorate our home with a Christmas tree. Cookies are taboo for me, because sugar is removed due to MCS from the diet. My current health condition has on the other hand I also made a spanner in the works, so it is hardly decorated for Christmas with us. As compensation for all that is now to keep at least a bit of Christmas elsewhere mood stop – so my goal.

Christmas trees with the FSC seal of approval

But not just any Christmas tree, it should be. But because of my chemical sensitivity and the associated need for harmful substances, as well as my personal attitude to the environment and nature, only a Christmas tree is concerned, it quite naturally, without the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, to his magnificent appearance has made it. Our native forest office offers only Christmas trees with the FSC Label for sale, i.e. that they are completely untreated and free of pesticides and fertilizers. With such a purchase decision is yet another step for the environment because the sale proceeds of the trees again flow to the local forest.

From the forest to the forest district

So did my husband and I are on the last Saturday very early on the way into the forest to the local forest district a friendly green for me "friend" to be feared. CSN Forums I was encouraged by the days of a request of another also affected to this project. I thought to put a Christmas tree, which must be a way for me too. Good things we went after breakfast, when it’s freezing cold by the snowed, acting as saccharified winter landscape in the forest, which has moved me to a special mood. Just in time for sale beginning at 9 clock we met at point of sale. Fortunately, very few people were there. But that changed abruptly.

Instead of fresh forest air – pungent smell perfume

Within a short time a great many interested buyers arrived at the Christmas tree sale. This meant for me that I suddenly intense Fragrant clouds of aftershave, hair care products, perfume and other cosmetics was delivered, making their way, despite my quickly attracted mask, managed in my nose. My nasal swelled up quickly, breathing difficulties began, extreme headaches, dizziness, nausea, heart racing just a few of my complaints mentioned. Honestly, I had the Christmas tree sale presented slightly different and more romantic. But the reality is different. Ultimately, we quickly grabbed a tree to finally disappear from the atmosphere unbearable for me. From the effects of the Christmas tree purchase, I nibble on today. Now I hope that I long to be back by Christmas my health level before the tree purchase, so I can enjoy the holidays at least a little.

I wish everyone a Merry Christmas, hopefully with a healthy and environmentally friendly Christmas tree.

Plastic surgery-trendy or madness?

1 Yesterday morning in the mirror I remembered an article from a women’s newspaper that I had read the doctor. Accordingly, I would have to feel ugly because I did not correspond to the current ideal. The pressure that is built in such newspapers is huge, I noticed when I looked in the mirror and looked at me critically. But then I thought:

Wait a minute! Stop! Not with me … und started a little later on to write this review for you.

Artificial pressure for artificial beauty

Beauty ideals are subject to constant change as the fashion of the time and have a much underrated influence on young people, young women and men of today. Not only the newly set fashion trends of the stars on the fashion scene entice young people to emulate, but also the appearance of top models stimulates the imagination and the desire for the perfect figure and ideal dimensions.

Oh dear: Rappeldurr with nuclear breasts in

In the 60s, Twiggy was the skinny on everyone’s lips, it was the first supermodel ever. Her boyish figure continued the trend to thin, even emaciated models. Many of them moved to a momentous anorexia. The trend towards Durrsein lives once again, with the only difference being that while a generous bosom is announced. As a result of this, all teenagers feel too thick and often suffer from eating disorders already. You feel her breasts too small, her lips too thin … In short, you simply feel ugly. There is hardly a youth magazine or a women’s magazine without any diet suggestions, the lightning-like weight loss promise.

And another miracle diet episodes…

Health problems are inevitable, also, the pressure on the psyche in young people, who live in perpetual dissatisfaction with her own reflection. Girls at puberty are particularly affected by this development, almost all of them have already tried dieting to lose weight, even though many of them are not too thick. Such TV shows push through clever manipulation and increase the pressure on young women and men immensely.

Big Business-Beauty- pulls mercilessly the last cent out of the bag

Anti-Aging, liposuction, rhinoplasty, plastic surgery, breast augmentation, Botox … these are the buzzwords of our time. Hair coloring alone is not sufficient for a long time. In the U.S., 3 percent of all cosmetic surgeries are performed on young people is rising. Especially advertising, by the action of course, most of them young and pretty people are with perfect bodies and beautiful faces to us, the pressure on us all. Young and to be beautiful, we suggest the same sexual attractiveness and success and a fulfilling life. Beauty is practically forced on us then as in life. No wonder that a significant number of young girls thus saves already for a breast augmentation or liposuction.

Natural smile exchanged for a mask

Teens often get even plastic surgery even as a birthday gift. Older people undergoing are mostly to fight a Botox treatment to counteract the formation of wrinkles. Many people are not aware that Botox to the strongest nerve poisons at all counts. On injection of Botox, the facial muscles are paralyzed, thus smoothing out the wrinkles. Visually perform Botox treatments in my opinion, to stare and expressionless faces without facial expressions. It is from the former expressive and captivating smile after missing most of each track. The effect of the Botox treatment lasts about half a year, and then comes the madness starts all over again.

Is that nice? Lips like Daisy Duck, inflated breasts…

All of the rage now with sprayed silicone lips, which is also fueled by the media. The above-mentioned breast enlargements are among the most frequently performed cosmetic surgery. Here, too, through advertising and the film industry set up a massive pressure on women which leaves many women before the desire for larger breasts?

Many of them are completely ignorant of what they expect of themselves and their bodies with such surgeries. For example, keeping only about breast implants inevitable ten to fifteen years, a repeat operation is more or less. Apart from the implant by many women is an often not tolerated, severe intolerance reaction requires removal of the breast implant inevitable. It is not surprising that the removal of breast implants, because the patients were sensitive to chemicals, the Topumweltkliniken in the U.S. for standard program is one where many of the young women often suffer from cancer at the same time. It is a very, very high price for it to act on a temporary beauty. The same goes for liposuction, this procedure also carries risks for the "patients", the death rate is at least 1:5000. Any other operation in which an anesthetic is administered, constitutes a risk, and may lead to unforeseen complications. Furthermore, everyone should be aware of before it connects to the plastic surgeon’s knife sets and not a medically necessary surgical subjects.

Natural and inner beauty, true ideals – at no cost

I have long thought about what beauty really is, and came to the conclusion that mask-like faces with Botox, unnatural breasts, swollen lips, have nothing to do with beauty. Beauty blossoms from himself and some of the first glance appeared flawless, has suddenly become boring because the "facade" unnatural at second glance, and the person behind it, is dead boring. No, for me, natural beauty is the highest ideal. Sure, you can highlight a subtle makeup, nice clothes and good manners, why not?

Voluntary chemical storage? No, thank you!

I’d like to stimulate reflection on these artificial beauty craze, for allergies and intolerances to everyday products are already on the rise, the number of environmental patient continues to rise constantly. For these reasons, I consider it highly questionable to voluntarily leave silicone to implant Botox and other chemicals, meet only the momentary trend.

There is no reason to yield to the pressure of society and the plastic surgeons volunteered as "chemistry camp" to serve. We should be focusing again increasingly depend on the true inner values, work on our education and devote ourselves to more important topics of everyday life, because we certainly get more to inner satisfaction and to true beauty.

Bold Earrings It faced tough competition from concepts for Christmas trees, toilet-paper holders, and lamps, but Megan Bernstein’s design for big, colorful earrings beat them all out, becoming the winner of WoZela’s vuvuzela recycling competition.

The contest, sponsored by two South African advertising firms, drew more than 100 entries suggesting ways to reuse or recycle the plastic horns that blared throughout this year’s World Cup matches.

Helping Local Craftspeople

Bernstein’s hoop earrings, which the Associated Press described as consisting of "circular cross-sections of the long, hollow horn," were the clear favorite of the jury of local artists and designers. Event organizer Matt Blitz said the design also met the goal of generating ideas that actually could be produced by local artisans in order to benefit the community.

"They’re not just an aesthetic reuse," he said. "They could become a product that community artists could construct to create their own revenue."
